Discovered, age17, by Nick Venet (producer: THE BEACH BOYS), and Red Baldwin (in-house producer: THE MONKEES), with group KINGS VERSES. Spoof, billed as “the one and only, all American, English band”, splits concert bills with ALLMAN BROTHERS, THE BIRDS, STRAWBERRY ALARM CLOCK, etc. KINGS VERSES cuts demo at CAPITOL RECORDS.
1967
Kings Verses is pitched the idea of performing the lead roles in a  possible MONKEES spin-off. Introductions are made to Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart (songwriters for THE MONKEES), but the deal stalls. Undaunted, KINGS VERSES cuts test tracks with Paul Rothschild (producer: THE DOORS), plays historic Griffith park and Elysien park Love-in’s, moves into Frank Zappa's infamous Laurel Canyon cabin originally built for silent film cowboy star Tom Mix. Houdini's castle is across the street. Kings Verses has arrived. Zappa's warmup band "The Fraternity of Man" is occupying the house at the time, and invites Kings Verses to stay and spend  ‘live  and learn’ summer with JIM MORRISON, JIMI HENDRIX, FRANK ZAPPA, TIMOTHY LEARY, KEN KEASEY, CARL FRANZONI, STASH (writer: “Don’t Bogart That Joint”), and too many others to mention. 1968
Baker writes new song folio. He then teams up with legendary guitarist, Billy Darnell,  creates new band BUSHY CLUMPS, and records what JIMI HENDRIX describes as “heavy metal
bluegrass”. Band splits concert bills with CANNED HEAT,  COUNTRYJOE,  etc.  (BUSHY CLUMPS, inde-prod., unreleased. Master mix tape lost in Topanga Beach flood of ‘76.)
1969
Baker signed as writer for Snuff Garret  Viva Productions and returns to CAPITOL RECORDS, with new group POSSUM. Over-the-top and twenty years ahead of its time, as the album cover suggests, “Hay seeds on acid” best describes this highly conceptualized wonder. (POSSUM ST648, CAPITOL RECORDS,   released 1970).
Studio guitarist for BRUCE and GAIL BERMUDEZ band, LITTLE SMOKE; backed by the late
actor, ROYCE APPLEGATE  (“Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou”).
1981
Forms house band, THE LONE STARS, at star-studded LONE STAR SALOON, near Malibu.
Hosts BURRITO BROTHERS, SPANKY AND OUR GANG, THE DYLLARDS, etc. Cuts three
songs in studio with LONE STARS (inde-prod, PR release).
1985
Takes 10-year hiatus from performing and recording to rest, re-group, and write entire new
song folio.
1998
Signs on as chief writer/producer for YOUNG ENTERTAINMENT GROUP, Inc. Records
40 songs from new folio for covers. Forms new band CALIFORNIA, and starts work on
solo album.
2000
Writes musical “WINDOWS” and script treatment “THE INFIDELS”.
2001
Due to terrorist attacks, Baker sets aside other projects to release patriotically charged CD
“DON'T MESS WITHAMERICA”. (DON'T MESS WITH AMERICA, JB555, BAM RECORDS,
released 2002)
2002
Resumes solo album production. Expands marketing of “DON'T MESS WITH AMERICA” CD
to include CD related products. Writes sit-com, “CREAM IN HER COFFEE”.
2003
Releases “SOUTH OF BAGHDAD”. (JB 999, BAM Records, released 2003) Produced by:

1970
WARNER BROTHERS MUSIC’s  President, Ed Silvers, inks two consecutive five-year deals to publish Baker’s songs and showcase his stage and studio work. Highlights of his ten year career while WB staff-writer are as follows:
       
Works on Kenny Rogers’s variety show.

Adapts foreign film theme song lyrics.
Creates ‘in-house’ band, THUNDERBIRD and cuts high-dollar tracks with Jimmy Fielder (bass,
BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS),Smitty Smith (organist, Ray Charles), Jerry Jumenville (horns),
Chet Mc Cracken (drums), Dave Berry (keys),  Ron Eglit (steel guitar-currently bass guitarist  for
Surfaris), and IKE & TINA TURNERS vocal ensemble. (THUNDERBIRD RECORDS, PR
release, 1975)
1982
Sub-contracts as ghost-writer/player(confidential).
Appointed Chief in-house producer for Hud Corporation’s THUNDERBIRD RECORDS.
Produces BILLY MERCER album “California Hillbilly’s”. (THUNDERBIRD RECORDS, regional
release, 1975)
1980
Baker leaves WB to pursue independent productions. Creates band CALIFORNIA. Begins
writing and recording new non-WB folio.
Appears in Jan-Michael Vincent movie, BIG WEDNESDAY.  (appears  in European, Asian, and
East coast versions, but cut from West coast domestic - Go Figure?)
WB backs JIMMY BAKER BAND. Doug Gilmore and Delaney Bramlette producing. Delaney
and Bonnie, singing back-up. (in-house, unreleased)

JAN-MICHAEL VINCENT records Jimmy Baker song “Stray Dogs”. WB balks at deal.

Works on variety of WB film lot projects, including a team-up with veteran sitcom composer
Jerry Fielding, adding lyrics to theme song for short lived CHICAGO TEDDYBEARS.
 
Key consultant to WB related artists, such as OZARK MOUNTAIN DAREDEVILS, etc.
2010
Begins pitching script to studios. Vintage Baker songs, spanning decades of work, begin
appearing on YouTube.

Arranger for Ted McNamara’s (writer, SOONER OR LATER by Grass Roots), controversial religious spoof entitled THE SWEET JESUS FISH AND MATTRESS COMPANY. Frank Zappa funds studio version. Doug Weston funds live version at TROUBADOR. Many await the
resurrection of  SWEET JESUS to this day.

Stage guitarist for Doug Kershaw, Tammy Wynette, Ben Colter, Billy Mise, etc.

Baker and studio partner/drummer Danny Lane climb aboard Bob Verne's plans to cut second "CANDLE"  album, but funding falls through. *The late Bob Verne is the father of "Grey's Anatomy" writer Krista Vernoff. He is missed by all who knew him.
